Combined Defense Forces of the New Republic
The Combined Defense Forces of the New Republic is the successor to the Rebel Alliance's forces. Carrying the pride of the fact that they were a militarily inferior force which defeated the greatest military in galactic history, they are little changed from that force. Now a completely profession force, it consists of the New Republic Defense Fleet, under which the naval Sector Forces and New Republic Marines are organized, the New Republic Starfighter Corps, which many consider the elite branch of the force, and the New Republic Army, which while technically disbanded still consists of the surface Sector Forces, Republican Guard, and Special Forces.
