New Republic Army
Based on the rag-tag Sector Forces that formed the bulk of the Alliance Army, the New Republic Army does not largely depart from its previous incarnation. While Sector Forces have largely become standardized, the Special Forces remain the same; while Special Operations have become the warfighting units of New Republic Intelligence. The new additions to the surface branch of the Defense Forces are the federalized Forces Command, which has been inactive since the dissolution of the formal Army following Operation Shadow Hand, and the Republican Guard, which acts as elite praetorian shocktroops, trained specifically to combat the Remnant's Stormtroopers, and paramilitary police force, supporting the efforts of the New Republic Security Force.
