Welcome!
Welcome to Star Wars RP: Echoes of Endor (click here to join). We are what's called a "play-by-post, text-based roleplaying game," set in the Star Wars universe. There's no dice here, or statistics like "damage" or "hit points"—instead, we're about imagination, creative writing, and creative freedom.

For information on the setting or rules of the RP, please see the links at the top of this page. If you have any questions, our managers are always willing to help-feel free to post on the OOC (Out of Character) forum, here. Some frequently asked questions, however, are posted below. Good luck, and may the Force be with you!
Q. What is the setting of the RP?
A. The setting can be found here, and a total timeline of the Star Wars canon here,, but basically, it's after the events of Episode VI: Return of the Jedi, and Expanded Universe works such as the Heir of the Empire novel trilogy, but before The New Jedi Order novel series; 25 Years After the Battle of Yavin. As previously mentioned, this is known as the "expanded universe," and includes information from books, comics, video games, and so on. For more information on the expanded universe and everything Star Wars, we recommend Wookieepedia—it is a source that we use frequently.

Q. Is there anywhere I can get help starting??
A. Yes, we have a few guides, here, in our Out of Character forum. You can also go ahead and say hello and introduce yourself there!
Q. What is the "canon"?
A. The canon is the Star Wars storyline, as told in the films, the books, comics, video games, and other media. Our RP is "alternate universe" or AU, that is in some way we are deviating from the established canon. In our case, Echoes of Endor is allowing for completely open RP after the starting point of the setting. That means we honor the canon of Star Wars up until the starting point of the setting.
Q. Is there a limit on abilities, weapons, money, etc.?
A. No, with a but. We prefer that characters explain, in their profiles, where and how they come by their abilities, weapons, money and so on. For example, if your character is proficient with the Force, how did he or she learn it? If your character has a lot of money, where does it come from? Acquiring these items and talents over the course of the RP is preferable, but not required.
Q. Can my character have a ship, or ships?
A. Yes, your character can have a personal ship as long as it isn't too big, or too heavily armed. Examples would be the Millenium Falcon, or Slave I. Be sure to mention it in your profile, and remember that Wookieepedia has information on many ships you can choose from. If you want more than one ship, or a fleet of ships, these should be requested here. Moderators will review the request and get back to you.
Q. Can I play more than one character?
A. Yes, there is no limit. However, it is preferred that your characters don't all know each other, or assist each other.
Q. Can I own a faction, planet, or business?
A. Yes, provided that it is requested and approved. If there are any standing factions you are interested in leading, please speak with the Staff. If you wish to simply join a faction, any position within the New Republic, Imperial Remnant, Jedi, or Sith is open to any character as long as there is not another character already established in that place. Any other faction, including local governments, you must speak with the individual who is running that faction to join, if there is one.
Q. Are the rules subject to change?
A. If members request that a rule be changed, yes. You can also request a new rule, if you feel one is necessary. Otherwise, the Staff will make occasional changes to the rules, with notice to the Players.
Q. How explicit is the RP, in terms of sex, violence, and language?
A. Sex and graphic violence should be mostly implicit, not explicit; think a PG-13 movie. Profanity is permitted in the RP, within reason, if a character is speaking or thinking it; although we prefer you stick to Star Wars profanity. Anything beyond these suggestions require an Explicit notice in the threat title. Out of Character (OOC), members should behave on the forums in the same way they would behave in public. While this is considered a mature and adult RP, the reality is we do have younger members and we also wish to keep RP within the same narrative and prose as the various works of Star Wars. See the rules for more detail on this.
